At the most recent meeting of the SCCL Management committee, it was agreed unanimously that Nick Broadbent would be offered Life Membership of the Committee.
Nick graciously accepted and this will go to the League AGM in November for ratification.
Life Membership of the league is only offered for exceptional service to the League, and Nick will join his fellow Life Members, both former League Chairmen Elwyn Jones and Dave Ralphs.
Vice Chairman Jamie Dowley who nominated Nick, with the agreement of his fellow Executive officers, praised Nicks contribution over many years.
Dowley said, "For 40 years Nick has been at the forefront of the League administration, starting out in 1983 in the old Shropshire League, before continuing in the SCL and then the big merger in 2012 to form the SCCL. Throughout that time he has chaired the Membership and Structure sub committee, where he has had complete mastery over his brief as well as often finding solutions to seemingly insurmountable problems. The restructures of 2012 and 2019 were a success in no small part to Nick's diligence and foresight, allied to the qualities of integrity and impartiality which he has shown throughout his time on the committee, that make this such a richly deserved award".
